Unlike conventional mechanical packers with fixed outer diameters, inflatable packers adopt hydraulic inflation working principle, featuring ultra-high expansion ratio and powerful wellbore adaptability. They are widely used for layered isolation, fluid shutoff, segmented injection and reservoir stimulation in onshore and offshore oil wells, gas wells, water injection wells and horizontal deviated wells, serving as essential core tools for modern precision well completion operations.
A complete inflatable packer assembly consists of high-strength alloy steel central mandrel, precision inflation control valve, multi-layer wire-reinforced rubber sealing element, anti-extrusion protection structure and standard API connecting threads. The slim original outer diameter enables smooth running through tight casing sections, deformed wellbores and restricted borehole intervals. After reaching the designed target depth, surface pressurized fluid is injected into the internal inflation cavity to radially expand the rubber element, which closely fits the casing inner wall or open-hole formation wall to form a stable high-pressure sealing barrier. This structure effectively isolates different oil, gas and water layers, preventing interlayer channeling and fluid cross-flow.

The reinforced composite rubber element resists extrusion deformation and aging failure under long-term high temperature, high pressure and corrosive working conditions.
